Remote start triggering for SL-35 film camera using external handset

15 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.

What the thread found

  • The SL-35 camera accepts remote start commands through a 5-pin Fischer connector
  • Remote triggering is accomplished by connecting the remote run pin to the 12V pin
  • On the 5-pin Fischer connector, pins 2 and 5 carry the remote run and 12V signals respectively
  • An 11-pin Fischer connector can alternatively be used, with pins 7 and 11 providing the same remote run and 12V functions
  • When adapting a Bartech handunit, both momentary and continuous switch settings should be tested to determine which works with the specific camera setup

Depends on

  • The information applies specifically to an SL-35 rebuild variant
  • Whether momentary or continuous switching is required may vary depending on individual camera configuration
  • Adapter compatibility depends on matching the handunit's pin configuration to the camera connector
