Adjusting a new GPI PRO vest after switching from Tiffen: hip pads too large, weight concentrated on two small pelvic points.

What the thread found

  • The PRO vest should sit firmly on the hips with minimal pressure on the shoulders, which enables its fine control characteristics.
  • Several operators found the hip pads oversized; remedy options include removing the pads from the fabric sleeve and trimming them so that when fully tightened, 0.5 to 1 inch (2 to 3 fingers) of gap remains, or ordering a smaller pad set from the manufacturer, who acknowledged the sizing issue.
  • Shoulder pads are best adjusted with a second person present who has reviewed the manufacturer's fitting video beforehand.
  • New pads settle over time; the manufacturer provides fitting support during the adjustment period.

Depends on

  • Pad specifications vary by individual body geometry and prior vest experience.
