Lemo connector wire separation on PRO I battery base from repeated rotation

20 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.

What the thread found

  • Wires can separate from the Lemo connector on the battery base if the battery hanger is rotated excessively on its post, causing loss of power to peripheral equipment
  • Rotating the battery hanger repeatedly while trying to route cables or reposition the centerpost can create enough torque to pull wires loose from the Lemo connector
  • When rotating the battery hanger is necessary, always rotate in the same direction and then reverse back in the opposite direction to minimize stress on the wiring
  • Avoiding rotation of the battery hanger altogether is preferable to minimize the risk of connector wire separation

Depends on

  • The failure mode was specific to one user's repeated rotation attempts while reorganizing cable routing
  • The issue occurs on the lower junction box of the PRO I system
