Speed control options for Bartech BFD/BDR remote zoom motor
13 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- Bartech BFD and BDR units lack the motor speed adjustment feature available on Preston systems; the motor speed cannot be changed via forward/reverse switch control
- A potential workaround involves calibrating a shorter focus distance to give the hand unit wheel a wider operating range, which may help with close focus work
Depends on
- The workaround suggestion was speculative and not confirmed as tested or effective
- Discussion conflates different Bartech models (BFD and BDR) without clarifying whether speed control limitations apply equally to both
