Removing a PRO gimbal from a VZ grip for conversion to a Volt-modified gimbal.

What the thread found
- Neither the outer bearing retaining ring nor the inner ring holding part of the VZ mechanism needs to be removed; GPI PRO published a video on gimbal cleaning procedure.
- Hammer impact with wooden backing risks destroying the bearing and the fine-threaded gimbal cap.
- Thermal contraction method works: aluminium grip shrinks more than steel bearing; spray inverted compressed-air duster into the grip to cool it, or use a freezer.
- If the bearing sits skew after cooling, chill the grip again, re-thread the cap slowly to centre the bearing straight, then cool and remove the cap again.
- One operator confirmed the compressed-air cold method succeeded; the gimbal was removed and a Volt-modified gimbal installed.
Depends on
- Bearing orientation and grip tightness may vary by usage history; method effectiveness depends on temperature differential achieved.
