MDR-1 follow focus system specifications and compatibility differences from MDR-2
What the thread found
- MDR-1 camera cables use different connectors and pinouts compared to MDR-2, while power and motor connectors are the same between models
- MDR-1 lacks torque adjustment settings and normally requires recalibration after power loss, though some older units have a built-in fix that prevents this need
- MDR-1 operates at 24 volts; when powered by 12 volts, operation without delay requires either a voltage booster converter box or, in Microwave models, a built-in voltage booster
- The start/stop connector on MDR-1 is larger than on MDR-2
- UHF-based MDR-1 units require a separate converter box to boost 12V to 24V, while Microwave MDR-1 variants have an integrated voltage booster
Depends on
- Some MDR-1 units have a power-loss recalibration fix while others do not, suggesting model or production date variations
- Information about voltage compatibility comes from user experience rather than official specifications
- UHF and Microwave MDR-1 variants have different power supply solutions
