Steadimate A-30 compatibility with Ronin gimbal for camera stabilization
What the thread found
- The Steadimate A-30 harness may transmit hip sway movement to a mounted Ronin gimbal during walking, causing visible wobble in the camera image.
- An Exovest is reported to reduce hip sway transmission to the gimbal compared to traditional-style vests because pelvic bone motion does not directly affect the socket block.
- Adjusting the Exovest to have a slightly more obtuse hip pivot angle can further reduce gimbal movement during operation.
Depends on
- The comparison is based on limited hands-on experience with the Steadimate A-30, with only a few days of field testing mentioned.
- The wobble issue was observed specifically when using a traditional Cinema Products vest, not tested with an Exovest.
- The setup difference between gimbal-based systems and traditional sled-based systems means previous operator experience with one type may not directly transfer to the other.
