Low mode mounting options for RED One camera
17 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- Low mode shooting on RED One can be achieved by unscrewing the standard camera handle and adapting a Steadicam plate using two screws for a secure connection
- Universal mounts attached to the upper 19-inch rods of a RED rig can hold a Steadicam plate and allow adjustment of front and rear positioning for different lens configurations
- A top-mounted handle with eyepiece holder, sometimes called a cheese handle, allows low mode operation while keeping the top of the camera open to improve heat dissipation
- Mounting the camera in low mode moves the center of gravity further from the gimbal, which may require lengthening the post and makes tilting movements more difficult
- Low mode mounting brings the camera closer to the ground, which is useful for certain shot angles despite the center of gravity considerations
Depends on
- The center of gravity shift when using low mode mounting was not fully considered during initial testing by one user
- The connection to Element Technica products and external vendor information relies on outdated contact information and links from 2009
- No detailed specifications provided for the universal mounts or compatibility requirements
