Image mirroring issues with 7-inch Panasonic LCD monitors in low mode camera brackets

19 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.

What the thread found

  • The mirror function on certain Panasonic LCD monitors reverses the menu text but does not flip the actual video image left-right as expected.
  • Using the up/down function instead of the mirror function can achieve the desired image reversal on this LCD monitor model.
  • Physically rotating the monitor 180 degrees by removing two screws provides an alternative workaround when the mirror function fails to flip the image.
  • Some units of this monitor model contain a faulty mirror chip that prevents proper image mirroring, and the manufacturer can repair or resolve this issue.
  • Varicam HD cameras automatically flip their display image when the camera itself is oriented upside down, eliminating the need for manual image reversal in inverted mounting scenarios.

Depends on

  • The issue appears specific to the 7-inch Panasonic LCD monitor supplied with certain camera rigs.
  • The faulty mirror chip problem was noted as affecting multiple units of the Archer monitor model.
  • No testing confirmation was provided for whether the issue affects the identical monitor included with the Flyer rig.
