Mounting a Betz Wave on a Tiffen Archer 2: feasibility with small top stage and lightweight bottom stage.
DisputedParticipants disagreed and reached no conclusion. Read the findings as positions, not as an answer.
What the thread found
- A Betz Wave can be mounted on a Tiffen Archer 2 with a smaller dovetail plate, similar to the configuration used on a Tiffen Clipper.
- With a light camera, the setup is viable; one operator reported successfully flying an ARRI Alexa LF in this configuration.
- The trade-off is that the sled becomes noticeably longer when using the Wave.
- Some operators have switched from the Wave to a Tiffen Volt on compact sleds, citing the length disadvantage.
Depends on
- Camera weight and lens configuration affect practicality.
- Personal preference and operational style determine whether the increased sled length is acceptable.
