Mounting an Arri 435 in lowmode on a DB III camera support without interference from the lowmode unit screw
22 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- The screw on the Arri 435 lowmode unit can interfere with DB III mounting because the DB III is wider than the lowmode unit
- Removing the screw entirely is a temporary solution that works but may void equipment insurance and is not recommended for extended use
- A spacer plate approximately 1/4 inch thick made from aluminum can be added under the camera to clear the screw head
- An alternative bracket designed for the 435 lowmode can bypass the standard Arri bracket and eliminate the screw interference issue
- Anti-slip rubber or camera tape added to the DB III clamp can improve grip and reduce slipping under load
Depends on
- Removing the screw is described as a temporary measure only, not suitable for long-term use
- Some rental facilities may void insurance coverage if the screw is removed
- The effectiveness of anti-slip modifications depends on the individual DB III unit, with some slipping more easily than others
- One user tested the anti-slip rubber modification only on a light camera setup and expressed desire to test with heavier configurations
