PRO sled operators were experiencing limitations with HD video signal transmission and sought modifications to route HD-SDI through the post instead of using external cables.
Some operators had their sleds custom-rewired by independent technicians to accept HD video signals while maintaining compatibility with standard definition signals.
Steadyrig announced development of new HD-SDI certified looms designed specifically for HD-bandwidth demands, with testing expected to complete before the end of the year.
Betz-Tools offered an aftermarket HD-SDI upgrade package for PRO rigs that included HD-SDI connectors on the top junction box and lower sled with the video line routed through the post.
HD monitors offered advantages over traditional green screen monitors in color reproduction, screen size, and compatibility with operators who did not bring down-converters to set.
All new XCS Ultimate rigs began shipping with HD-SDI capability through the center post, and existing Ultimate rigs in the field could be retrofitted with this capability.
