Compatibility of M1 Volt gimbal with different Steadicam brand sleds and arms
Note (as of October 2026)Curt O. Schaller, the developer of Artemis and Trinity, has no longer been with ARRI since the end of 2025. To our knowledge, ARRI currently has no dedicated team and no official contact persons for its stabilizer systems. In our view, the future of this line is uncertain. If you are buying new, get written confirmation from ARRI beforehand on how long service and spare parts are guaranteed. Have used rigs checked by the manufacturer before you buy.
What the thread found
- The Volt gimbal is compatible with M1, M2, Archer, Shadow, GPI Pro, and Betz rigs.
- The Volt works with posts measuring 1.75 inches in diameter or smaller, including 1.58 and 1.50 inch sizes.
- Gimbals designed for 1.5 inch or 2 inch posts may fit the Volt, but the control box mounting could present challenges on non-standard equipment.
- M1 and M2 gimbals can be modified to work with post diameters of 1.75 inches or less.
- The Volt cannot currently be mounted on 2 inch posts without significant modifications.
- Adapting other gimbal models like Shadow V, Shadow, U2, or Clipper to work with the Volt is possible.
- If modifying a gimbal other than M1 or M2 for Volt compatibility, numerous expensive internal parts require adjustment beyond simple post diameter changes.
Depends on
- No current solution exists for mounting Volt on 2 inch posts.
- Mounting the Volt control box on off-brand equipment may require custom solutions.
- Compatibility requires either matching post diameter specifications or performing substantial modifications.
- The discussion about specific modifications to certain brand gimbals remains incomplete.
