Clamping plate compatibility and lever operation on Betz topstage camera mount
What the thread found
- The Betz topstage is not designed with adjustments for different plate widths and should work with PRO plates as supplied
- The lever that clamps the plate does not need to close completely flush to secure the plate properly; pressing firmly until snug is sufficient for safe operation
- Older camera plates may be too thin and allow the camera body to contact the clamping lever
- Replacement plates matching the correct thickness specification are available from third-party suppliers
Depends on
- One contributor acknowledged they have never owned or used a Betz topstage
- The advice about lever operation comes from a single user's experience after consultation with a supplier
- The discussion involves a borrowed plate that was incompatible, so general plate fit was not definitively tested
