Achieving low camera mounting heights with Flyer steadicam and Panasonic HVX200
20 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- A dedicated low-mode kit is available from Tiffen to enable low-height camera operation with the Flyer rig.
- Camera height around 70 centimeters can be achieved with the Flyer in low mode when the bridge is positioned at mid-range on the vest.
- The monitor can be rotated 180 degrees on its mount and then tilted to allow viewing from different angles, or simply tilted down far enough for visibility.
- Camera image flipping is available through the menu system, though functionality may vary depending on the operating mode selected.
Depends on
- The specific low-height capability mentioned is based on experience with an FVX1, which is lighter than the HVX200, so results may differ.
- Monitor rotation and image flipping capabilities were noted for a different camera model and may not be identical across all Flyer-compatible cameras.
- The exact minimum operating height achievable has not been precisely documented in this discussion.
