Volt gimbal losing calibration in Pause Mode after firmware upgrade
What the thread found
- After a firmware update, a Volt gimbal system began unexpectedly losing calibration when placed in Pause Mode and then retrieved for the next take, requiring frequent recalibration during filming sessions.
- Loss of calibration manifests as the system caging and searching for zero level, making it difficult to control the sled without fighting the motors.
- The calibration loss occurs more frequently when the sled was transported at an angle rather than level, such as carried on someone's shoulder during movement to the docking stand.
- Holding the silver Trim button on the control box for 6 seconds resets and clears the cache memory, which was suggested as a potential solution for the calibration drift issue.
- Changing batteries on the gimbal between takes without notification can also result in loss of calibration.
Depends on
- This issue was reported after a specific firmware upgrade and may not affect other firmware versions or hardware configurations.
- The frequency of recalibration needed (4-6 times per day) depended on various variables and did not occur consistently every time.
- The reported solution using the Trim button reset was noted as pending testing and confirmation of effectiveness.
