Monitor mounting and height adjustment on a Steadicam® post for low mode work.

What the thread found
- One solution is to mount a second small 5–7 inch monitor on the camera rods below the lens, positioned similarly to the main monitor and ready immediately in low mode; the limitation is that few models are light and bright enough for this purpose.
- A monitor yoke or coplanar monitor holder that pivots around the monitor's center of gravity allows the main monitor to be angled or rotated 90 degrees in low mode while maintaining dynamic balance, provided the rig was balanced carefully in the morning; the transition takes approximately 30 seconds to 1 minute on the arm without docking, and only drop time needs readjustment.
- Third-party center-of-gravity holders and 3D-printed yokes are available for the Zephyr.
- Shifting the gimbal slightly for drop time adjustment does not alter dynamic or static balance and requires no complete re-balance of the rig.
- A hinged-arm solution (custom-built) tends to be too flexible, prone to slipping, and can generate vibration.
- Some operators are less bothered by looking up at a high monitor; the recommendation is to practice low mode extensively until the work becomes as fast as the production assistant demands.
Depends on
- Solution preference depends on available monitor models, rig configuration, and operator comfort with frequent monitor repositioning.
- The coplanar holder approach requires careful morning balance setup to maintain integrity during mode transitions.
