Mirror function failure on Flyer Sled camera monitor
19 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- The mirror function on the Flyer Sled monitor may fail to work even when the flip function operates correctly.
- Replacing the monitor unit resolves mirror function issues on the Flyer Sled.
- When shooting with an inverted camera rig for low-angle shots, tilting the monitor bracket while keeping it upright allows the flip function to work automatically without needing to physically flip the monitor itself.
- Rubber bumpers on the gimbal that prevent scratches between gimbal and handgrip can be reattached using rubber-based impact adhesive, which keeps the material flexible better than super glue.
Depends on
- The mirror function problem appears to be specific to certain monitor units rather than a universal rig issue.
- The workaround of keeping the monitor upright while inverting the rig may produce reversed left-right orientation in the footage, though acceptable results were achieved in practice.
- This discussion involves equipment from 2007 and may not reflect current product specifications.
