2026From a Facebook group: Arri Artemis Trinity
Mounting a Mo-Sys LED-wall tracking sensor on ARRI Trinity 2 with the sensor oriented upward for virtual production.
Note (as of October 2026)Curt O. Schaller, the developer of Artemis and Trinity, has no longer been with ARRI since the end of 2025. To our knowledge, ARRI currently has no dedicated team and no official contact persons for its stabilizer systems. In our view, the future of this line is uncertain. If you are buying new, get written confirmation from ARRI beforehand on how long service and spare parts are guaranteed. Have used rigs checked by the manufacturer before you buy.
What the thread found
- One operator successfully adapted the sensor mounting plate via 3D printing and installed it on the outer ring in place of the counterweights, routing the sensor cable to the Bottom Stage where the Brain processing unit sits on a quick-release base, powered via P-Tap with a voltage converter to the 19 V system supply.
- The sensor does not need direct camera connection, only to the processing unit, which can be mounted on the sled or tethered remotely to an assistant; alternatively, placing the sensor atop the ring and routing cables in a loop preserves free roll motion.
- Additional gimbal cabling can introduce minimal shot instability; the DP should be informed and may apply post-stabilization if needed.
- On a Steadicam® rig, the sensor typically mounts like a light on the monitor bracket or grip, with the mini-PC mounted above or below.
- Extended post-configuration in ARRI Superpost is often required to maximize tracking range from ground to overhead.
- One operator noted an HTC Vive Tracker tracking system experienced jitter caused by barely perceptible Trinity vibrations, whereas wireless sensors avoid this; for AR and virtual production, a crane may be more efficient than a handheld stabilizer.
- Some operators deliberately keep the Trinity light for endurance and control.
Depends on
- Cabling effects on shot smoothness depend on cable routing and gimbal sensitivity.
- Tracking performance depends on scene layout, calibration depth, and post-production configuration.
- Virtual production feasibility depends on rig weight, budget, and whether boom range or portability is prioritized.
