Hanging a Tiffen G50X arm on a docking mount pin without a harness; availability of longer arm posts.
What the thread found
- The Tiffen G50X arm post cannot be hung directly on a docking mount pin, and longer 3/4-inch arm posts are not available from the manufacturer.
- The Tiffen G70 features a hollow arm post that allows it to hang on the docking mount pin.
- A practical workaround for the G50X is to remove the arm post and hang the arm from the post bore hole, keeping the post in a bag; this takes only seconds.
- Many operators substitute the arm harness with a short braided cord or a sturdy boot lace threaded through the gap.
- Docking mounts are typically designed for the arm to hang by the post pin; alternatively, the arm can hang via the balance rod attachment pin.
