Tuning arm sections to move in synchronization

15 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.

What the thread found

  • Start with both spring tensions wound completely out to zero
  • Add lift incrementally until both arm sections sit just below horizontal level
  • When properly balanced, both sections should track and move together smoothly
  • Springs are designed to be durable and do not wear out under normal use

Depends on

  • The solution applies to systems using spring-based arm sections
  • The specific setup involved black and blue springs with adjustable tension mechanisms
  • Success in tracking depends on achieving the precise balance point slightly below horizontal
