MDR wireless follow focus units experience interference when operating multiple units close together or near other wireless equipment on incompatible channels
18 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- Multiple MDR units positioned side by side can cause glitches and signal interference
- An interference reference table exists that maps which channels conflict with each other
- MDR channel numbering cycles, with channel 30 being identical to channel 0
- The HU-3 controller can display which channels are in use in the surrounding area to help identify interference sources
- Interference may originate from other wireless equipment operating nearby rather than from the MDR units themselves
- Moving away from the source of interfering signals resolves the problem
- Keeping a channel compatibility reference is useful for troubleshooting wireless interference on location
Depends on
- The reference table appears to only document channels 0 through 29
- The specific interference patterns may be model or firmware dependent
- One report describes intermittent problems during setup that resolved when moving away, but the exact cause was not definitively confirmed
