Trinity 2 tilt and roll drift in standard operation, and MGT-2 remote control connection causing pan and roll instability via LBUS.
Note (as of October 2026)Curt O. Schaller, the developer of Artemis and Trinity, has no longer been with ARRI since the end of 2025. To our knowledge, ARRI currently has no dedicated team and no official contact persons for its stabilizer systems. In our view, the future of this line is uncertain. If you are buying new, get written confirmation from ARRI beforehand on how long service and spare parts are guaranteed. Have used rigs checked by the manufacturer before you buy.
What the thread found
- A Trinity 2 operator experiences roll drift when performing simultaneous tilt and roll movements, a problem that persists across multiple firmware versions including SUP 4.
- The tilt/roll drift issue can be partially mitigated by enabling Follow Mode, suggesting the problem may be calibration or control-logic related rather than mechanical.
- Connecting an MGT-2 remote control to a Remote Head Unity 2 via LBUS cable causes immediate uncontrollable pan and roll drift that makes calibration impossible.
- The pan/roll drift from LBUS connection clears immediately upon disconnecting the cable, indicating the issue is specific to the cable connection or communication protocol.
- The problem persists with multiple original ARRI LBUS cables, ruling out cable failure as the root cause.
- ARRI support was unable to resolve the tilt/roll issue during inspection in 2024 and suggested waiting for firmware updates that have since been released without fixing the problem.
- Other Trinity operators in the community have not reported experiencing the tilt/roll drift issue, suggesting it may be unit-specific or configuration-dependent.
Depends on
- Affects Trinity 2 systems; resolution may depend on ARRI firmware development or hardware replacement.
- The tilt/roll drift issue persists despite SUP 4 firmware update, indicating it may require a future update or physical repair.
- MGT-2 remote control issues are specific to LBUS connection and may relate to individual unit calibration or compatibility.
