Stiff or slipping grip on PRO-HD Sled telescope post after humid climate exposure: cleaning and shim adjustment.
What the thread found
- Remove all components from the post and thoroughly clean the post interior and gimbal/grip interior with mild all-purpose cleaner and non-corrosive contact cleaner, as fine dust combined with humidity can lock mechanical assemblies.
- The VZ-Grip contains a shim sleeve whose tension can be adjusted using the PRO Gimbal tool after removing the gimbal; adjust with the clamp fully open, then re-tune clamp pressure.
- Inside the pan bearing are two recesses that can be adjusted with a tool to control friction.
- One operator reported temporary relief by setting the latch slightly looser than specified in the service video.
Depends on
- Adjustment depends on climate conditions before and after travel.
- Effectiveness varies with dust contamination during transport.
