Zoom control malfunction with Cforce Plus motor and MGT-2 on Trinity 2: joystick returns to zero instead of holding position.
Note (as of October 2026)Curt O. Schaller, the developer of Artemis and Trinity, has no longer been with ARRI since the end of 2025. To our knowledge, ARRI currently has no dedicated team and no official contact persons for its stabilizer systems. In our view, the future of this line is uncertain. If you are buying new, get written confirmation from ARRI beforehand on how long service and spare parts are guaranteed. Have used rigs checked by the manufacturer before you buy.
What the thread found
- Zoom via Cforce motor assigned to MGT-2 joystick (J1 or J2) exhibits return-to-center behavior instead of holding the commanded zoom position.
- Operator attempted both SPEED and ANGLE modes; SPEED mode causes full zoom range traversal at maximum speed, while ANGLE mode causes slow zoom with automatic return to center.
- Issue persists with multiple motor models: Cforce Plus, Cforce Mini RF both exhibit the same behavior.
- Focus and iris modes via the same Cforce Mini RF motor also show identical return-to-center behavior.
- Firmware versions tested include Trinity 2 CCPU A03.00.10, MCPU V02.00.52, LCPU V03.00.11; RCP-3 CCPU A03.00.10, LCPU V03.00.11; MGT-2 V1.0.12.0; Cforce Mini RF with SUP 2.2.
- One operator suggested a possible firmware issue with Cforce Plus motors, but this was not confirmed by subsequent testing with Cforce Mini RF.
Depends on
- Specific to MGT-2 joystick control; behavior on other controllers not tested.
- All systems running latest available firmware versions at time of report.
