BDR V2 follow focus system improvements and compatibility
13 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- The BDR V2 features a 45-minute calibration process after power-off instead of the previous duration.
- Torque adjustment is simplified in the V2 model compared to the original version.
- Users can manually set lens rotation endpoints in the V2, similar to analog BFD devices.
- Adding an iris slider to a BDR system upgrades the overall resolution to 16-bit, resulting in smoother operation.
- The V2 has a different hardware configuration from the original BDR and cannot be upgraded from the previous version.
- V2 receivers can handle both focus and iris control simultaneously when used with a handset.
Depends on
- The original BDR cannot use the focus wheel accessory, though a solution was reportedly in development.
- V2 upgrade path is not available for existing BDR owners due to fundamental hardware differences.
- Discussion is limited to user reports without technical specifications or detailed performance data.
