Power requirements and limitations for Alexa LF and Alexa SXT cinema cameras with accessories
Note (as of October 2026)Curt O. Schaller, the developer of Artemis and Trinity, has no longer been with ARRI since the end of 2025. To our knowledge, ARRI currently has no dedicated team and no official contact persons for its stabilizer systems. In our view, the future of this line is uncertain. If you are buying new, get written confirmation from ARRI beforehand on how long service and spare parts are guaranteed. Have used rigs checked by the manufacturer before you buy.
What the thread found
- The Alexa LF is specified by the manufacturer to draw 120 watts.
- The Alexa SXT cannot be reliably powered through a 12-volt connector when wireless follow focus, motion control motors, and video transmission systems are added due to excessive current draw.
- Switching to 24-volt output from a cinema sled resolved power supply issues for Alexa SXT with multiple accessories.
- Later firmware versions changed the Alexa LF to require 24-volt input exclusively, and the camera draws close to 150 watts under these conditions.
Depends on
- The Alexa SXT power issue was observed during a specific three-day commercial production.
- The power draw figure of 150 watts for the Alexa LF comes from a user report rather than official specifications.
- The exact firmware version or timing of when the 12-volt to 24-volt transition occurred is not specified.
- No information provided about the Pro model's actual power capacity or performance with these accessories.
