Correcting misalignment between top and base stages of a Zephyr stabilizer
12 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- A misalignment of several degrees between the top stage and base can occur on a Zephyr stabilizer
- The alignment can be adjusted without sending the unit back to the manufacturer by accessing the adjustment bolts underneath
- A knurled plastic cap on the bottom of the unit must be carefully pried upward to expose the allen bolts that secure the base section
- The plastic cap is fitted tightly and requires a thin screwdriver or similar thin tool to pry it free without damage
- Once the cap is removed, loosening the allen bolts underneath allows the user to realign the top and bottom stages until they are coplanar
- After adjustment, the bolts should be retightened to secure the corrected alignment
Depends on
- The procedure involves taking apart a component of the stabilizer
- One respondent had a different model (Archer 2) that required factory service rather than user adjustment
- No information provided about how to verify coplanar alignment or whether special tools or measurement devices are needed
