2025From a Facebook group: Arri Artemis Trinity

ARRI Trinity 2 software issues in 2025: head firmware problems, update caution, alternatives, and operator tuning requests.

Note (as of October 2026)Curt O. Schaller, the developer of Artemis and Trinity, has no longer been with ARRI since the end of 2025. To our knowledge, ARRI currently has no dedicated team and no official contact persons for its stabilizer systems. In our view, the future of this line is uncertain. If you are buying new, get written confirmation from ARRI beforehand on how long service and spare parts are guaranteed. Have used rigs checked by the manufacturer before you buy.

What the thread found

  • Head software version 3.0 was officially withdrawn by the manufacturer in July 2025 due to serious defects affecting the pan axis and pan module; a subsequent software test showed minimal improvement.
  • Communication and responsibility between ARRI and head manufacturer FoMa has drawn criticism; FoMa uses the same software in the Antares head.
  • Some operators avoid updating due to fear of new bugs; RCP-to-head connection loss at startup remains a recurring issue.
  • For Trinity 1 owners, a 360-degree retrofit by service partner Optical Support (OS360) is regarded as solid with very good support; one operator built a third axis for the T1 using an Alexmos gimbal controller and a custom slip ring.
  • Operators request an extended menu for direct PID value editing instead of percentages of an unknown range, and speed/tuning adjustment via a jog wheel module on the rig rather than requiring the RCP.
  • Typical operational tasks requested: overhead viewing with upward tilt over subjects, starting very low and booming up, starting high and booming down, and occasional rotations or nodal rolls.
  • Some operators report good overall experiences despite critical bugs, noting that the T1 also required approximately two years to reach reliability; supply delays on retrofit kits such as the Live Kit exceeded eight months.

Depends on

  • Disputed whether T2 problems are overstated.
  • Software performance depends on head firmware version and integration between ARRI and FoMa.
  • Retrofit and upgrade options available only through authorized service partners.
