What the thread found
- Time savings result from keeping the sled mounted with monitor and core components assembled in its case with custom foam inserts, rather than rebuilding the monitor and Volt Control Box on each job; foam must be re-cut after monitor mounts or power solutions change.
- Common setups include Pelican 1615 Air for the sled, C-Stand with base and large wheels, vest divided into two parts, arm and docking bracket in a soft case; one Pelican 1730 can hold both sled and arm together.
- An alternative approach distributes equipment across separate cases—for example Pelican 1650 for the arm and dedicated sled case—reducing per-case weight and freight costs; one accessory case holds cables, low-mode monitor, weather protection, spare dovetail plates and posts.
- The GPI PRO CineLive sled fits diagonally in a case while keeping the front-mounted Volt Control Box attached.
- Pre-job briefings that hint at low-angle work warrant packing a backup sled with a long super-post, pre-configured and ready.
- Local work without travel permits packing strategies optimized for speed over compactness rather than airline restrictions.
Depends on
- Whether to consolidate into one large case or distribute across lighter cases; choice depends on travel mode, airline baggage rules, and crew strength.
- Specific sled models and post lengths; custom foam layouts depend on the rig configuration.
