Mounting multiple follow focus receivers on cinema camera rigs without dedicated brackets
20 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- Velcro can be used to mount multiple Bartech follow focus receivers to camera equipment and has proven reliable over years of use when checked periodically for security.
- Zip ties around the receiver housing and camera body can provide additional security when used alongside velcro mounting.
- Velcro-backed mushroom-cap adhesive fasteners (vel-lock type products) can bond follow focus receivers together with sufficient strength to hold camera equipment stable during operation.
- A follow focus receiver mounted with velcro-type adhesive fasteners to a camera body remained secure enough during actual production work to complete an entire job, even in unconventional orientations.
Depends on
- No factory dual receiver bracket for the Ultra series was confirmed to exist at the time of discussion.
- Velcro mounting requires periodic inspection to verify adhesive remains secure.
- Removal of velcro-mounted equipment requires tools and effort to separate.
- The velcro method was used as a temporary solution until the user found it worked well enough to become permanent practice.
