Archos AV400 not detecting video signal from SR-3 camera despite working with other cameras
15 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- Archos recorders may not recognize a video input if the signal strength is below 1 volt peak-to-peak, even though the signal appears normal on a monitor and tuner.
- Passing a weak video signal through a video distribution amplifier can boost the signal strength enough for Archos recorders to detect it.
- Some Archos models have a black and white input mode that may need to be enabled for black and white video sources.
- Connecting the transmitter to the MM-Out instead of through the Modulus resolved the video signal detection issue for at least one user with the SR-3.
- The video signal strength from the SR-3 output may be insufficient for Archos compatibility even when the Modulus voltage regulator is installed.
Depends on
- The exact cause was never definitively confirmed in this thread.
- Different Archos models may have different input requirements and menu options.
- One suggestion to use black and white input mode did not resolve the issue for the original poster.
- The proposed solution of using MM-Out output instead of the standard connection path was not tested by the original poster before the thread ended.
