Power delivery and performance characteristics of the Artemis camera stabilizer system
22 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
Note (as of October 2026)Curt O. Schaller, the developer of Artemis and Trinity, has no longer been with ARRI since the end of 2025. To our knowledge, ARRI currently has no dedicated team and no official contact persons for its stabilizer systems. In our view, the future of this line is uncertain. If you are buying new, get written confirmation from ARRI beforehand on how long service and spare parts are guaranteed. Have used rigs checked by the manufacturer before you buy.
What the thread found
- The Artemis Cine-HD stabilizer produces minimal vibration and offers a wide range of adjustment options including monitor mount positioning
- Voltage drop occurs when supplying power to cameras through the sled post due to thin cable gauge, which becomes more noticeable with older batteries or power-hungry camera models
- Using thicker gauge cables for the power line running up the post significantly reduces voltage drop issues
- Alternative solutions to voltage drop include using larger capacity batteries like the Hytron 120 or Propac, or running a direct cable from the battery holder to the camera using an AB plug connector
- The Artemis system uses stainless steel and water-resistant components
- A new Artemis DV Pro model was introduced in 2005 as a follow-up to earlier Cine, Cine-HD, and EFP Pro versions
Depends on
- One operator had been using the Artemis Cine-HD for 16 months at the time of posting and referred to earlier 2003 forum discussions for additional details
- Direct camera power cable routing may limit gimbal rotation range to 360 degrees in some cases
- The voltage drop issue appears specific to setups using thin post cables
- The improvement in vibration performance is noted as being from a year prior to the NAB event mentioned, indicating this was an iterative design improvement
