Compatibility of Zephyr arm socket block with different vest models
15 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- The Zephyr arm uses a smaller socket block size, which is the same size as the Flyer LE arm.
- Smaller and larger vests have the same hole pattern, allowing smaller socket blocks to be mounted on larger vests like the PRO or 3A models.
- The Pilot socket block can also be adapted to fit on standard vests using only 4 of its 6 mounting screws.
- Klassen vests cannot accept the Zephyr arm without modifications because the socket block is integrated into the carbon arm itself.
- Mounting a full-size socket block on a Klassen arm would require custom fabrication work and would be expensive.
- The Zephyr vest provides a more spacious fit compared to earlier smaller vest designs.
Depends on
- This information comes from a 2011 discussion and may not apply to current product versions.
- The cost of customizing a Klassen arm is mentioned as high but no specific figures are provided.
- No detailed specifications or technical drawings are referenced.
- The claim that the Zephyr vest is more comfortable is based on personal experience rather than systematic comparison.
