Adapting an A30 arm with 1/2 inch pin to a sled requiring 5/8 inch pin connection
What the thread found
- A custom adapter converting from 1/2 inch hole to 5/8 inch pin can be fabricated by a local machine shop using stainless steel for durability
- Standard light stand adapters may not be suitable for Steadicam use as their pin geometry differs from purpose-built Steadicam connections
- The 1/2 inch pin specification on an A30 arm may create structural concerns if subjected to significant leverage loads when adapted to accept a larger 5/8 inch connection
Depends on
- The appropriateness of custom adapters for this specific arm-to-sled connection remains uncertain
- No commercial adapter for this exact configuration (1/2 inch female to 5/8 inch male) appears to be readily available in the market
- The discussion was never fully resolved regarding whether the original poster successfully implemented a working solution
