D-tap connector polarity damage to Bartech follow focus receiver and motor mounting issues
13 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- Inserting a D-tap power connector in reverse polarity can cause a receiver to smoke and stop functioning due to reversed positive and negative connections
- D-tap connectors are prone to being inserted incorrectly because they can be forced in backwards
- Receiver damage from reversed polarity is typically repairable and not prohibitively expensive
- An M-One motor may disengage from lens gears during fast spinning if the rod setup allows movement or if an incorrect gear pitch is being used
Depends on
- The user's specific setup involved an Anton AB plate with a D-tap battery
- No detailed repair cost figures were provided
- The motor mounting issue was not definitively resolved in the thread
- Advice to check rod setup and mark rotation points assumes some mechanical familiarity
