Adapting Zephyr steadicam battery to power wireless video transmitter via Lemo connector
15 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- A wireless video transmitter requiring 12V DC can be powered from a Zephyr steadicam battery using an appropriate Lemo adapter cable.
- Using an intermediate Powertap connector between the Lemo battery output and the 12V device provides flexibility for future configurations and avoids repeated expensive Lemo connector purchases.
- The Zephyr manual specifies the correct Lemo connector type and pinout configuration needed for battery output.
- Multiple Lemo connector variants exist in the market, making it necessary to verify the exact connector type before ordering or fabricating adapters.
- Cable fabrication shops and steadicam equipment suppliers can custom-make Lemo-to-12V adapters when commercial options are unavailable.
Depends on
- This addresses a 5.8 GHz wireless transmitter setup, not necessarily all wireless equipment.
- The discussion occurred in 2011 and references specific suppliers that may no longer be in operation.
- No testing results or performance data provided for the completed setup.
