Comparison of camera stabilizer arms for beginners and backup use

Note (as of October 2026)Curt O. Schaller, the developer of Artemis and Trinity, has no longer been with ARRI since the end of 2025. To our knowledge, ARRI currently has no dedicated team and no official contact persons for its stabilizer systems. In our view, the future of this line is uncertain. If you are buying new, get written confirmation from ARRI beforehand on how long service and spare parts are guaranteed. Have used rigs checked by the manufacturer before you buy.

What the thread found

  • The FlowCine XArm is described as smooth, lightweight, and durable, with responsive post-sale customer service.
  • The FlowCine XArm is available through retailers in the US, and the manufacturer provides quick responses to user questions through a dedicated community group.
  • Arm maintenance can be straightforward and does not necessarily require factory service.
  • The traditional G70(x) arm models are frequently unavailable in the market.
  • Limited product information and user testimonials are available online for many newer arm options.

Depends on

  • One commenter is a manufacturer of the SmartSystem Arm X1 and acknowledged their bias, but did not provide detailed comparative information.
  • No hands-on experience was shared with the AVDONIN A5 Arm or SmartSystem Arm X1 in the thread.
  • Service accessibility differs by location and may depend on individual retailer support rather than direct manufacturer repair.
  • The discussion took place during pandemic conditions when product demonstrations were not available.
  • One positive FlowCine review is based on long-term use of a different model from a different era, limiting direct comparison.
