What the thread found

• Generic 2.4 GHz wireless video transmitters and receivers can be sourced for under $200 total by adapting consumer or radio-controlled airplane components
• Receiver quality directly affects video signal quality and range
• Transmitter placement at maximum height improves signal reception
• Cable shielding quality matters when experiencing interference with the video monitor signal
• Heavy RF pollution in certain geographic areas can degrade performance of all wireless video systems regardless of brand
• Generic units show limited range, typically working reliably only within approximately 120 meters from the base station
• Some generic units experience issues with movement and shifting video artifacts
• Transmitter modules designed for radio-controlled aircraft applications can be adapted for rig-mounted use due to lightweight and compact form factors

Depends on

• Generic options perform poorly when moved around actively
• Performance highly dependent on local RF environment and competing signals
• Range limitations make these unsuitable for all application types
• No systematic comparison data provided between different budget options
• Geographic location significantly affects reliability
• Potential interference with other 2.4 GHz devices like WiFi routers
• Discussion thread contains unresolved performance complaints and contradictory user experiences
