Finding custom foam cutting services for equipment cases near New York City
14 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
Note (as of October 2026)Curt O. Schaller, the developer of Artemis and Trinity, has no longer been with ARRI since the end of 2025. To our knowledge, ARRI currently has no dedicated team and no official contact persons for its stabilizer systems. In our view, the future of this line is uncertain. If you are buying new, get written confirmation from ARRI beforehand on how long service and spare parts are guaranteed. Have used rigs checked by the manufacturer before you buy.
What the thread found
- Multiple specialized foam cutting services exist that offer better quality than basic pluck-and-pull foam at comparable or slightly higher cost
- Custom foam providers typically use layered high-density foam with routed edges for equipment protection
- Online design tools allow customers to create custom foam layouts before production
- Kaizen foam sheets are a DIY option where pre-layered foam can be separated horizontally and cut with a box cutter, then assembled with carpet tape
- Kaizen foam costs approximately $98-99 plus shipping compared to $82 for pluck-and-pull foam
- Some foam cutting services offer in-person design consultation at an additional cost for more precise measurements
- Shipping foam alone is more economical than shipping completed cases when using remote services
Depends on
- The discussion spans 2012 and later years; some service providers and contact information may no longer be current
- Pricing information is from older posts and may not reflect current costs
- Quality assessments are based on individual user experiences rather than systematic testing
- The DIY Kaizen foam approach requires careful cutting and assembly skills for optimal results
