Difficulty removing V-Lock battery mount from camera rig

14 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.

What the thread found

  • The battery mount can fit snugly initially but typically becomes easier to remove after repeated use according to the manufacturer.
  • Silicone spray lubricant can help loosen a stuck battery mount that is otherwise functioning normally.
  • The bracket edge near the silver clamp can catch on the dovetail receiver during removal, creating a sensation of jamming even when the clamping mechanism itself is properly loosened.
  • Gentle jiggling or manipulation may be needed to clear the leading edge of the bracket before the mount slides off smoothly.

Depends on

  • Experience is specific to one camera model and mount design.
  • No permanent solution identified for the hanging-up issue; users reported working around it rather than eliminating it.
  • The exact mechanical cause of the edge-catching remains unclear without visual documentation.
