Loose gimbal collar connection on Zephyr causes horizontal play during tilts

12 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.

What the thread found

  • A Zephyr gimbal may develop unwanted horizontal sliding play of about 1/16 inch between the yoke and collar, which becomes apparent when tilting along the same line as the yoke points
  • Adjustment screws under dust caps on each side of the gimbal can potentially address loose gimbal connections
  • Over-tightening gimbal adjustment screws can degrade pan responsiveness of the unit

Depends on

  • The adjustment procedure requires a specific #6 spanner bit tool
  • No confirmation in the thread that the adjustment actually resolved the issue
  • The procedure may be complex enough to warrant professional factory service
  • Specific details about what exactly loosened or the underlying cause were not definitively determined
