Compatibility of Pro-standard dovetail plates with M1 stage camera support
What the thread found
- M1 stage can accept Pro standard dovetail plates, though minor tension adjustments may be needed
- M1 stage is taller than many Pro plates, and the locking mechanism may protrude higher than thin plates, potentially causing interference with wide camera bodies
- Tiffen plates supplied with M1 stage measure approximately 0.4 inches in height
- Pro plates measuring 0.27 inches in height may require either an aluminum spacer strip or installation of safety screws to function properly on M1 stage
- XCS plates can fit on M1 stage depending on the specific model and the height of the dovetail face
- M1 stage requires safety screws protruding from the bottom of plates at each end to prevent a loose plate from sliding off completely
- Standard XCS plates include Tiffen-style safety screws as factory equipment
Depends on
- M1 stage compatibility depends on specific plate thickness and dovetail face dimensions
- User confirmation that all XCS plate variations fit M1 stage is limited
- One user provided photographic evidence of successful XCS plate compatibility but this represents a single test case
- Modifications to non-Tiffen plates may be necessary for full compatibility
