Incorrect camera mounting screw on Steadicam Merlin
14 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
What the thread found
- The correct mounting screw for attaching a camera to the Merlin dovetail plate is a 1/4 inch diameter screw with approximately 1/4 inch of threads and a 1/2 inch diameter very thin head.
- If a screw is too long to properly seat the camera, it is likely the wrong part and should be replaced.
- The correct mounting screw can typically be purchased from a photo store for just a few dollars.
Depends on
- This specifically concerns the Canon 600D camera model on a Merlin stabilizer.
- The user purchased the equipment second-hand, so the condition and completeness of all original parts could not be verified.
