Balancing the Betz Wave sled: Wave Rider versus XCS-LT plate with riser solution

DisputedParticipants disagreed and reached no conclusion. Read the findings as positions, not as an answer.

What the thread found

  • The majority of operators favor a combination of an XCS-LT side adjustment plate with colored distance and riser plates from an accessory manufacturer over the Betz Wave Rider for proper camera balance on the Wave.
  • The XCS-LT plate and riser solution is regarded as the ideal approach to set the camera center of gravity correctly for the Wave sled and also for the AR Omega.
  • Some operators who use the Betz Wave Rider report it functions adequately for smaller builds and allows correct balancing of the Wave.
  • The Wave Rider's principal drawback is its high dead weight.

Depends on

  • Build size and camera weight
  • Rig configuration (Wave versus AR Omega)
