Selecting and configuring a steadicam rig for the first time at a professional level with a budget of around 30 pounds camera capacity
17 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
Note (as of October 2026)Curt O. Schaller, the developer of Artemis and Trinity, has no longer been with ARRI since the end of 2025. To our knowledge, ARRI currently has no dedicated team and no official contact persons for its stabilizer systems. In our view, the future of this line is uncertain. If you are buying new, get written confirmation from ARRI beforehand on how long service and spare parts are guaranteed. Have used rigs checked by the manufacturer before you buy.
What the thread found
- The Archer2 is described as an elegant and beautifully-performing system that can handle most Red camera setups, though the 30-pound camera payload rating on the G50 arm may be conservative
- The Artemis Cine HD sled has a 57-pound weight limit, offers hot-swappable battery features with minimal power loss suitable for power-hungry cameras like the Red, includes an HD monitor, and weighs 57 pounds
- A standard definition monitor paired with a Redbyte Decimator downconverter can serve as a budget-friendly alternative to an HD monitor while maintaining good framing capability
- The choice between arm and sled should be based on how the overall system is designed and performs in practice, not solely on payload specifications
- Consulting with equipment manufacturers and service providers can provide valuable guidance on system configuration for specific camera setups
- Users of the Artemis system report satisfaction with both the equipment and customer service from authorized dealers
Depends on
- Information about the Artemis was several years old at the time of the discussion
- Payload specifications do not fully indicate how a system is designed or performs in practice
- Limited forum discussion of the Artemis compared to other brands does not necessarily reflect the quality or capability of the equipment
- Real-world performance with Red configurations on the Archer had not been extensively documented by forum participants at that time
