What the thread found

• The Meridian system transmits uncompressed HD or SD video with less than 1 millisecond latency over the unlicensed 5.1-5.8 GHz band, legal in the U.S. and most countries.
• The system supports multiple receivers in broadcast mode for coverage across large distances and tunnels, or unicast mode for single receiver operation with control capabilities.
• The transmitter and receiver come standard with rubber-ducky antennas but can use high-gain 5.x GHz antennas to extend range.
• A built-in HD to SD downconverter in the receiver allows using either HD or SD monitors when shooting HD video.
• Transmission is encrypted to prevent signal interception.
• Range testing showed 1-2 blocks in Manhattan with stock antennas, and over 300 feet indoors and outdoors, with potential doubling through high-gain antennas.
• Broadcast and portable receivers perform similarly with proper setup and matching antennas, though iris and tally control is only available on the broadcast receiver.
• Manual channel selection on any of 65 channels ensures stable connection without automatic frequency searching issues.
• The system can outperform significantly more expensive competing systems with proper antenna setup.

Depends on

• Unit size is larger than some competing systems but comparable to other HD-capable transmitters.
• The broadcast receiver costs substantially more than the portable receiver and is primarily suited for live events with iris control needs.
• Range specifications from the seller were pending final production testing at time of writing.
• Information based on individual user experience rather than comprehensive testing.
