User experiences and fitness characteristics of the Artemis ACT 2 steadicam vest compared to competing models
18 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.
Note (as of October 2026)Curt O. Schaller, the developer of Artemis and Trinity, has no longer been with ARRI since the end of 2025. To our knowledge, ARRI currently has no dedicated team and no official contact persons for its stabilizer systems. In our view, the future of this line is uncertain. If you are buying new, get written confirmation from ARRI beforehand on how long service and spare parts are guaranteed. Have used rigs checked by the manufacturer before you buy.
What the thread found
- The ACT 2 vest features adjustable components that allow customization for different body types and tightness preferences.
- Users found the padding style in the ACT 2 more comfortable than competing models like the Ultra vest.
- The vest performs well in tight working spaces and on location shoots.
- The ACT 2 uses a flexible padding construction that combines soft and rigid elements to create a unified feel between operator and vest.
- Some operators expressed concerns about the weight capacity of the ACT 2 when paired with heavier camera packages, noting that the maximum arm lift capacity might not reflect vest capability for total rig weight.
Depends on
- Most feedback came from short-term trial experiences at trade shows rather than extended field use.
- One user noted that webbing and fasttech-style shoulder connectors can introduce excessive play and cause vest movement during heavy loads, though this was based on experience with different vest models.
- The padding vendor's minimum order requirement limited customization options for some users.
- No definitive technical specifications or weight capacity limits were provided for the ACT 2 vest.
- User body type significantly affects fit experience, with the vest performing differently for slim versus standard builds.
