ARRI Trinity 1 Live upgrade (NAB 2024): broadcast mounting plates, tally integration, and control options

Note (as of October 2026)Curt O. Schaller, the developer of Artemis and Trinity, has no longer been with ARRI since the end of 2025. To our knowledge, ARRI currently has no dedicated team and no official contact persons for its stabilizer systems. In our view, the future of this line is uncertain. If you are buying new, get written confirmation from ARRI beforehand on how long service and spare parts are guaranteed. Have used rigs checked by the manufacturer before you buy.

What the thread found

  • The Trinity 1 Live is essentially a standard Trinity 1 fitted with mounting plates near the lower stage of the center rod to accommodate broadcast transmitter and receiver modules, with tally lights integrated into the signal cabling.
  • New features include a Cat5 connector at the gimbal head (mounted on the yoke), two 6G-SDI video lines capable of aggregating to 12G-SDI throughput, and the MGT-2 control unit that handles zoom and focus via LBUS protocol, allowing other LBUS-compatible devices to be daisy-chained.
  • MGT-2 profiles can be switched in the field to adapt to different productions and configurations.
  • One limitation noted by operators: despite the upgrade cost, the gimbal lacks 360-degree roll capability, which some broadcast clients expect and whose absence could jeopardize future work.
  • Open questions remain about how much of the center rod's usable length is consumed by the transmitter plates, and whether the L-Cube 2 focus unit can operate via LBUS or if ARRI cforce motors are required.

Depends on

  • Scope and usable rod length for additional payloads
  • Compatibility of L-Cube 2 with LBUS protocol versus dependency on cforce motors
  • Client expectations regarding roll range
