Mounting plates and baseplate solutions for Alexa Studio on Steadicam

13 years old. Gear and prices may have changed since.

What the thread found

  • The Alexa Studio shares the same base as the Arricam ST and LT models
  • Mounting plates designed for Alexa and Alexa Studio can work effectively on Alexa M and Mini variants when equipped with heavy lenses
  • A stable Steadicam setup can be achieved by mounting the plate backwards to the camera body and securing the front end of 15mm rods with an adjustable lens support bracket inverted and screwed into the plate where the locking pin normally attaches
  • The cam-jam.de bracket designed for classical Alexa may not attach to Alexa Studio in the same way due to different mounting interface

Depends on

  • Specific rental availability for baseplates in New York was not confirmed in the thread
  • The backwards mounting technique was demonstrated with Alexa M and described as suitable for Mini as well, but not explicitly tested on Alexa Studio
  • Discussion reflects experiences from 2013-2015 and may not represent current product compatibility
